Abstract

PROBLEM: managing technology has been a great challenge for older adults in these times. Getting used to, learning and developing your daily life in technology can generate effects that are necessary to understand in order to understand any neural process. OBJECTIVE: to recognize the negative repercussions generated by technology and its demands on the cognition of older adults. METHOD: quantitative research is a scientific method focused on obtaining numerical data to analyze and generalize a large population. It is intended to find the challenges of technology and the negative repercussions on the elderly through case studies, being an in-depth investigation of one or several cases; events, programs, groups or communities, in order to understand their complexity and particularity. RESULTS: indicate that the use of technology does not negatively affect the cognition of older adults. Evidence that the use of technology can have positive effects on cognitive functioning in older adults. CONCLUSION: the scientific evidence from the research concludes that the appropriate use of technology does not negatively affect cognition in this population. Technology can have a positive impact on cognitive functioning by providing opportunities for mental stimulation, as well as improvements in independence and quality of life. By providing necessary support, such as training and technical assistance, older adults can enjoy the benefits of technology without affecting their cognitive level.
