Abstract

PROBLEM: Have adolescents of generation "Z" and centennials presented an increase in the range of impulsiveness when using social networks, video games and the Internet? Generation “Z” refers to people born from 1981 to 2010 and centennials from 2000 onwards. OBJECTIVE: to determine if in the adolescent population there is an increase in the range of impulsivity associated with the use of social networks and video games from the context of non-pharmacological addiction. METHOD: cross-sectional study to measure the range of impulsivity in adolescents who use social networks and video games RESULTS: the research was carried out with a sample of 49 students, between 13 and 16 years of age, both sexes, 35 women equivalent to 71.4%, and 14 men equivalent to 29%, who performed the following scales; Barrat's BIS-11 impulsivity, the TDV Video Game Dependence Scale, and the Internet and Social Networks Addiction Risk Scale (ERA-RSI), the tests indicate that 96% of the group did not present a level high range of impulsivity. CONCLUSION: the research suggested that in this group of students the affected percentage was low and is not related to a higher level of impulsivity.
