Abstract

PROBLEM: neurodevelopmental disorders and other conditions of child development need neuroscience to know strategies for their effective approach. OBJECTIVE: to know and analyze the neurofunctional profile obtained through the evaluation of Terapia Neurosensorial TNS in a private therapeutic center in Guatemala City. METHOD: a descriptive, analytical and retrospective study was conducted in a sample of 106 children who were evaluated during the years 2021 and 2022 using the Terapia Neurosensorial TNS approach in order to analyze the neurofunctional profile obtained according to the reason for consultation and demographic characteristics.  RESULTS: it was shown that the most frequent age range was 9 to 11 years with 39% (N=41), 68% of the sample belonged to the male gender (N=72) and 38% of the population went to consultation for behavioral problems (N=34), 31% for Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (N=23) and 26% due to learning disabilities (N=23) or anxiety (N=24). 55% of those evaluated had comorbidity between the conditions. CONCLUSION: behind each diagnosis or condition, there is a TNS neurofunctional profile that reflects differences in maturation at the level of hemispheric connectivity, sensory integration dysfunctions or retained reflexes.
