PROBLEM: language disorder associated with a cerebrovascular event in adults. OBJECTIVE: to describe the neurobiophysiology of a language disorder associated with a cerebrovascular event in adults, in order to understand the clinical consequences of an injury in the areas responsible for language and rehabilitation. METHOD: for this study, a scientific research was carried out that is based on the literature review of various primary and secondary sources by virtue of knowing the findings found on the problem. RESULTS: the imbalance in mitochondrial homeostasis associated with situations such as aging, causes a high load of oxidative stress caused by free radicals, which increases the risk of suffering a cerebrovascular event and presents damage to the Broca and Wernicke area with sequelae in communication; these damages are reduced through a process of neurorehabilitation using strategies such as those of the Kabat and Bobath methods that stimulate neuronal plasticity through sensorimotor activities with daily reeducation routines. CONCLUSION: people who have suffered a cerebrovascular event have deficits in language production and comprehension and are at risk of having one of these events again; unless effective prevention and rehabilitation recommendations are implemented, another cerebrovascular complication can be avoided and difficulties reduced.
