Abstract

PROBLEM: infants with normal physical health conditions develop neurosensory and cognitive abilities, manifesting normal functional behavior, but if children have a diagnosis of chronic malnutrition, they present behavioral changes that may be signs of dysfunction in their behavior, and may be over diagnosed, ignored or not detected in time. What is the functional behavior of children with chronic malnutrition? OBJECTIVE: to promote a timely behavioral intervention within the care protocols for children with acquired immunodeficiency virus and chronic malnutrition and relate the clinical condition of the child with chronic malnutrition and acquired immunodeficiency virus with functional behavior . METHOD: a study was carried out and convenience sampling was used, since it had to comply with the condition of carrying acquired immunodeficiency virus and with a diagnosis of chronic malnutrition. RESULTS: children with chronic malnutrition and acquired immunodeficiency virus presented at least one dysfunctional behavior. The Ho is accepted greater than or equal to 51%. While the alternative hypothesis the majority of children do not present, at least one dysfunctional behavior is equal to less than 51%. CONCLUSION: the null hypothesis was verified, children with chronic malnutrition and acquired immunodeficiency virus presented at least one dysfunctional behavior and no relationship was found between dysfunctional behavior and nutritional values.
